about Mionwang

I'm Amitabh, but most people know me as Mion. When I started Mionwang, I didn’t know where it would take me — nor did I care to know. I just wanted to make movies. But I still needed a name, and Mionwang was the one I chose. Maybe I should’ve put more thought into it, but now the name has come to mean so much to us, even though it doesn’t have an inherent meaning. Also, I quite like it when people call me Mion.

Since starting Mionwang a couple of years ago, we’ve grown so much! We started with just a laptop—now we have state-of-the-art video post-production and audio production suites, with some of the best people ever. And not just in terms of their work. At our core, we’re just a bunch of people who love movies and love their particular, sometimes peculiar, fields more than anything.

I believe good art can only be made if it’s made with love—and sometimes, that love is more important than raw talent. I believe the audience is really smart, and they can always tell when the filmmakers are bullshitting their way through life.

I could go on and on comparing us with others, but that wouldn’t do anyone any good. Instead, I just want to promise you this:

If you come to us with your movie, we won’t bullshit you. Our foundation is rock solid — backed by science, achieved through years of study, practice, and refinement — and our team is made up of people who love their craft more than anything else.

In a nutshell, that’s what Mionwang stands for.
